Welcome to BKNpeople!

BKNpeople is an experimental repository for aggregating author identity information maintained by a variety of data providers. The website offers a 'developer' view of data and is not intended to be a primary interface to data. The website offers basic search, browse, and export capability. structWSF provides a RESTful API for importing data and creating applications that use the data. Complete datasets are available for downloading at, http://downloads.bibsoup.org/

The site is hosted and maintained by the NSF sponsored Bibliographic Knowledge Network (BKN) project directed by Jim Pitman, and is maintained by a variety of academic curators.

The site showcases the use of a network of Web services based on the Resource Description Framework (RDF) which is used as the canonical description framework used to populate different datastores which are updated from time to time from contributing data sources.

Data exchange between BKNpeople and contributing data suppliers is facilitated by use of BibJSON, an emerging standard promoted by BKN for serialization of bibliographic data.
